The quick-start guide to perfect hair

Our hair says a lot about us. How many countless makeover shows and segments have you watched that transform a person simply by giving them a new haircut or color? A woman with an outdated hair style can look older, tired and sometimes even unhappy. What can you do to keep your tresses in tip-top shape?
The first order of business is to receive a proper haircut. Besides, getting a haircut can boost your self confidence and self esteem plus make you feel like a brand new woman! I know that’s how I feel whenever I get a haircut! Your hair stylist can help recommend a cut and color that suits your body and face type. If you just lost weight, a new haircut can help increase your new body transformation, too (there is a reason that The Biggest Loser show provides the participants toward the end of the show with makeovers including a new hair style!) A new haircut can also be just the incentive you need to get in shape too!
Tell your hair stylist about your hair concerns and your daily life routine. Are you always short on time? Or can you spend a few extra minutes on your hair? Do you live an active life? Tell him/her if you have oily or dry hair or a lot of split ends. They will help you choose a style or cut that works for your lifestyle. For me, that means I have to have a haircut that go from being in a ponytail to down in no time flat.
My stylist needs to know that I spend most of my days and weeks training. Consequently, my hair can become dry very quickly due to sweating.
Whatever hairstyle you choose, remember you’ll have another one in six to eight weeks, so if you don’t like it, you can always change it at that time!
Your stylist can also help you with selecting the right hair care products, hair tools (like brushes, combs, curling irons, etc), and a regimen that will work for your lifestyle. Have kids? Workout? Nurse? Business gal? Each of us has a different life so the same cut that works for you might not work for her. A regimen is helpful to maintain healthy hair and ensure you feel (and look) your best at all times. Establishing a hair routine can help you when you are feeling rushed and stressed in the morning.
No woman wants dull looking hair. So after you walk out of the salon on Cloud Nine, what can you do to keep floating on that cloud? Invest in quality shampoo and conditioner.
Also, be careful with your blow drying routine. You don’t want to fry your hair! You can also use products that act as a barrier between your hair and the heat. Products like Redken Satinwear 02 Ultimate Blow-dry lotion help reduce friction and breakage. It also contains UV filters and antioxidants to keep your hair color from fading and UV rays.
And … your diet can play a part in your hair too. Yep, you guessed it, diet pretty much plays a part in everything you do! The foods you eat and what you drink can affect your hair. Take a closer look at what you eating and stick to pure, real foods vs. processed foods. Not only will your hair look better, you’ll feel better too!
